The Law Practitioners Act (Amendment) Bill 2011: R.I.P

Nothing has really changed since it was frist introduced in Parliament in May! The Institute for Judicial and Legal Studies Bill was passed at the National Assembly but there is still no sign of the Law Practitioners Act Amendment Bill 2011!! Moreover, the National Assembly was adjourned till the 13th of October..which makes around 3 months of waiting time added to our suffering!! Just asking myself the question: Do our parliamentarians really have the political will to go ahead with such a reform given the recent turn of events?

The situation altogether has become worse than it was before! We have to pay and enroll for the Bar Vocational Course in December and the Bill IF it is received favourably by the Assembly (ie. no consequential amendments or stalemate) will be passed by the end of October. Still, that leaves those responsible for the implementation of the project with only 2 months to make the necessary arrangements to start the new course!! Honestly speaking can they do it? I am now very skeptic about this! Unless, it is done in the same manner as that of the Medpoint saga.....
